I like the poem!

I'm going to Hawaii.
It's going to be fun.
Dad's got a client there.
I won't be the only one;
My whole family will be there!

I just flushed a dead mouse down the toilet.
I hope it doesn't stick, 'cause I wouldn't like to oil it.
Cats are useful when you want small critters dead.
Some days I wish they'd make small children disappear instead.
I just flushed a dead mouse down the toilet. Smiley

Joe: A small child would clog it. Better to stick with mice. (Two more of which I flushed this morning. I think the first mouse had family.)

There was a day when I would say just what I really thought
I didn't care 'bout being fair; My wisdom just was not
I've realized, and I've got wise, at least I'm on my way
Now I react with some small tact about what others say

In future days, I might amaze; I'm hoping that I will
It's quite unique to know to speak and when to just keep still
Only the few, I'm sure that you know have this quality
Perhaps in time, not just in rhyme, this gift may come to me

I think a poem is what we knead
In this, our little bread factory
I know that it should be some dough
But they put in charge that nut Joe

Now that nut Joe has us knead poems
From our once semi-sane quaint homes
Just how and why he got charged in
Is anybody's good guess *grin*

Why do we sit here mincing words
To put in his poems? That's for birds
He's much more crazy than he seems
In Jon's hallucinated dreams

That's it, we're through with this weird stuff
I think we've had more than enough
Tomorrow is before today
Now Joe will really have toupee

*Just to prove to you that a good poem takes more than rhymes and metres... Tongue

There's no one to talk with; no one to see
No one to view my abject poetry
No one to listen; no ears to hear*
No one to comfort, or console, or cheer
All flee away, leaving only a void**
Seems all my friends I have somehow annoyed
Strangers surround, yet leave solitary
Alien heart that once was quite merry
Now left adrift on a sea of regret***
Awaiting the time when I can forget

*No one to listen; no ears that will hear

**All from me flee, all that's left is a void
All flee away, all that's left is a void

***Now just adrift on a sea of regret

My bald head this winter will
Undoubted face a sharp chill
Wonder what my wife would say
If I bought a cheap toupee

I am guessing she would be
Rather inclined to agree
Though my warm head would be glad
The results would look quite bad

Now, I could just buy a hat
Don't be shocked! I've thought of that
Though it seems that most men scoff
When inside the hat comes off

So, my bald head still would show
Then everybody would know
Maybe I should find the cure
For baldness

Some ending, eh? Roll Eyes

It-- to my brain-- has occurred
I should invent a new word
So I put on my thought cap
Hoping a thought to entrap

Ordinary, I want not
Normal words aren't worth a lot
'Go' and 'going,' 'gone' and 'goes'
Only dull people use those

To further my argument
Here's a thought that makes great sense
Dullness from those words would flee
If we simply add an 'E'

Now "he 'goes'" would just not bore
It would be hip to the core
Proof: (As my example shows)
"Running down the street 'egoes"

Naturally, words like 'toupee'
Are much more than 'just okay'
They've got zest, and lots of style
And, in fact, they make me smile
Sweetheart

So, to stop the boring speech
Boring words I would impeach
We could keep around a few
But a bunch would be bran new

I'll be busy, I confess
Thinking up one with some zest
But, of this feel quite assured
It will be a great new word

Joe, that poem was very platinodeous!

And I say that with all mega-sincerity.

Thanks, Jon!

Shall I translate that for the 'normal' members on this forum?

True, the 'normal' members on this forum don't post, but still...

Translation:

Jon wrote on 08/29/10 at 8:43pm:

It wasn't boring.

Jon wrote on 08/29/10 at 8:43pm:

And he couldn't be any more Wallace Wallace about it if he tried.

I'm more proud of my translation than I am of my poem. Sweetheart

You sounded like you wanted new words, so I created a new word for you.

And I was much more Hitchhiker's Guide than I was Wallace Wallace.

But we can just choose to be very fribillious about this, if you'd rather.
